I have created this work in collaboration with the medium of DALL·E. My focus is on ideation and language and the power and importance of translation. My process is to deconstruct and reconstruct instructions from the 16th century Chinese text on painting ‘The Mustard Seed Garden Painting Manual’ 芥子園畫傳. These translations are multi-temporal as I rely on the accuracy of the Chinese to English translations of this text and this can vary widely from one interpretation to the next. The nuance of language is paramount. I feel this critical importance, in the discerning choice of words, parallel in my use of AI and textual prompts to create. In a way we walk a liminal space of Chinese Whispers when seeking to invigorate the contemporary with the historical. This artwork is digitally stamped with my Chinese seal (signature) and the DALL·E watermark rotated vertically and colour matched to be a second seal marking its genre as an AI artwork. 'Chinese Whispers' was featured in the BLOOM Collective x MakersPlace NFC Lisbon AI exhibit (2023).

The Bloom Collective AI x MakersPlace Exhibit, a curation that celebrates the intersection of art and artificial intelligence. At the heart of this exhibit is the vibrant diversity of artwork, artists, and the innovative tools they employ to push the boundaries of creative expression.
The Bloom Collective invited artists from all backgrounds to submit their work, which had to have been created using AI in some capacity. Whether it was exploring AI prompting, compositing, glitching, animating, just for inspiration, or any other fascinating application of AI.
Artists disclosed the methods they have utilized in crafting their finished pieces, allowing us to delve deeper into the artistic process and appreciate the fusion of human creativity with AI technology.
This curation aims to represent the rich tapestry of artistic perspectives and styles that emerge when AI becomes an integral part of the creative journey.
From traditional and digital art forms enhanced by AI algorithms to entirely new mediums born from the symbiotic relationship between human and machine.
