Referencing the aesthetic of the artist’s own COMMENT-OUT series from 2021, Kevin Abosch presents his first open-edition artwork, revealing over time how “openness” can be interpreted in different ways. Using game theory mechanics and giving collectors of the work the option to burn their existing NFTs in order to redeem new NFT artworks, the number of works is diminished over time. In yellow and black, nature’s warning colors, OPEN EDITION (2023) is at the time of this writing composed of 84 distinct works, each a poem manifested using machine-learning, within the physical constraint of the format.
